Since late in 2022, CDFA and the Board have been in a process to define regenerative agricultural for state policies and programs. The work began with consideration by CDFA’s Environmental Farming Act Science Advisory Panel and has included the establishment of a work group to develop a recommendation to the Board. CDFA has also hosted a series of public listening sessions, conducted tribal outreach and has collected public comment from individuals and organizations. A summary of the work related to the process can be found at www.cdfa.ca.gov/RegenerativeAg
The California State Board of Food and Agriculture advises the governor and CDFA secretary on agricultural issues and consumer needs. The Board conducts forums that bring together local, state and federal government officials; agricultural representatives; and citizens to discuss current issues and concerns to California agriculture.
