SACRAMENTO, September 24, 2025 - The California State Board of Food and Agriculture will explore emerging food trends and opportunities for farmers and ranchers at its upcoming meeting on Friday, September 26, 2025. The Board will hear insights from Terra Madre Americas’ organizers and exhibitors that highlight the importance of locally based food systems and local sourcing. In addition to food trends, the Board will receive updates from the California Department of Food and Agriculture on work related to climate resilience and regulatory alignment.
The meeting will be held from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, 1400 J St – Meeting Room #11, Sacramento, CA 95814. Terra Madre Americas is occurring in Sacramento, September 26-28th.
“From large multi-generation farms and ranches to new beginning small urban farms, the diversity of California farmers, crops and growing regions provides local food access and unique community events to celebrate California agriculture,” said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross. “I commend Visit Sacramento for its partnership to bring Terra Madre Americas to the Sacramento region bringing people together for a true CA GROWN tasting experience!”
Invited speakers include: Mike Testa, Visit Sacramento; Patrick Mulvaney, Mulvaney’s B&L; Michael Dimock, Roots of Change; Claire Tauber, Community Alliance with Family Farms; Tracy Celio, University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources; Helle Peterson, F3 Local; Greg Drescher, Culinary Institute of America; Virginia Jameson, California Department of Food and Agriculture and other invited speakers.
“As a farmer in the Central Valley, many of our farm products are ingredients in consumer food stables found in kitchens across the nation. When we think of local foods – we think of California,” said President Don Cameron, California State Board of Food and Agriculture. “Our state’s agricultural diversity and variety of production regions provide consumers an abundant source of healthy, fresh, California Grown foods that compliment local sourcing and support local farmers and ranchers.”
The California State Board of Food and Agriculture advises the governor and CDFA secretary on agricultural issues and consumer needs. The Board conducts forums that bring together local, state and federal government officials; agricultural representatives; and citizens to discuss current issues and concerns to California agriculture.
